Steps to set up multi-user network in QuickBooks

Step 1: The very first step is to download and install QuickBooks desktop

  • Download the QuickBooks software and save it as file
  • Install the software in the system
  • Select the multi-user host installation

Step 2: After that turn on the multi-user hosting

  • Open the QuickBooks software
  • Update the company file to a new version if needed
  • Head to the file and utilities tab and also select host multi-user access

Step 3: Turning on the folder and windows access permissions to share the company files

Step 4: Configure the firewall and security settings for the desktop

  • Open the start tab and look for firewall
  • Select windows firewall and select advanced settings
  • Right click the inbound rules and pick new rule
  • Click on port and hit next
  • Check the TCP and type in specific ports
  • Ensure allow the connection tab is selected

  • Move to the file menu and select switch multi-user mode

  • Add the required users by going to company and set up users option
  • Select the passwords and set up users option, along with add user
